1. WHEN A SCHENGEN VISA IS REQUIRED (nationals of third countries included in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806)a) To cover their subsistence during their stay in Spain, applicants must demonstrate an amount of CAN $197.40 per person per day, or its legal equivalent in foreign currency, multiplied by the number of days they intend to stay in Spain and by the number of persons traveling under the applicant’s responsibility.b) In all cases, applicants must demonstrate a minimum of CAN $1,776.60 (or its legal equivalent in foreign currency) per person, regardless of the intended length of stay.c) To return to the country of origin or to travel in transit to third countries, foreign nationals may be required to show nominative, non-transferable, closed travel tickets for the means of transport they intend to use.
2. WHEN A SCHENGEN VISA IS NOT REQUIRED (nationals of third countries included in Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806). Canada is included in Annex II and, therefore, Canadian citizens do not need a Schengen Visa.a) At the border, they may be required to provide proof of the financial means indicated in points 1.a), 1.b) and 1.c) above.
Applicants must demonstrate possession of more than CAN $2,910.00 (or its legal equivalent in foreign currency) to cover expenses for the first three months in Spain.
